As horses get older, their needs start to change

-
Dental needs: As horses age they wear their teeth down so that they can no longer grind their food very well. They also are more susceptible to gum and tooth root diseases

-
Nutritional needs: As their teeth wear and they can no longer chew hay well, their nutritional needs change as well. We can provide nutritional advice for your older horse

-
Metabolic disease testing: Many older horses have a metabolic disease called PPID (Cushing's disease). It can lead to a variety of effects such as laminitis, muscle wasting, slow spring shedding, and weight loss. Click here for more information on PPID including symptoms, diagnosis & management, testing, new research, and more!
